Pause Before You React

Pause Before You React

So if something has been testing your patience lately—especially through coworkers, family members, or people you interact with daily—remember this:

James 1:19 gives us a clear instruction—not a suggestion.
Be quick to listen.
Slow to speak.
Slow to anger.

That doesn’t mean you won’t be tested.
It means you’re being taught how to respond when you are.

Some of the hardest tests don’t come from strangers.
They come from familiar voices, close relationships, and everyday moments where patience is stretched thin.

That’s where wisdom is formed.

You don’t need to respond to everything.
You don’t need to correct everyone.
You don’t need to react just because something was said.

Sometimes obedience looks like restraint.
Sometimes faith looks like silence.
And sometimes growth is simply choosing not to engage—especially with people you love.

👉🏽 Being tested doesn’t mean you’re losing—it means you’re growing.

Prayer:
God, You know the moments that test our patience—at work, at home, and in the relationships closest to us. Give us hearts that listen, mouths that speak with wisdom, and spirits that remain calm under pressure. Help us apply Your Word when it’s hardest, not just when it’s easy. Teach us to walk in restraint, trust You with the outcome, and keep our peace rooted in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
